SHARPENER

The sharpener is a tool used for sharpening knives and other cutting utensils. It consists of a thin oval bar of tempered steel. Its main function is to straighten and align the edge of the knife, which tends to deform with use, without performing a true sharpening operation.
The use of the sharpening steel is relatively simple but requires some practice to achieve optimal results. To sharpen a knife with the sharpening steel, hold the knife with one hand and pass the edge over the surface of the sharpening steel while maintaining a constant and slightly inclined angle. This process straightens and aligns the edge, restoring its cutting ability.
